Yes We Can

Over the weekend my husband ran for a national delegate position for Barack Obama and he got it!

Here’s my husband’s speech ( he actually sang a few lines from a couple of songs and played his guitar ).

I’d like to say how proud I am of him… Luis does great work for our community and I’m grateful he was given this chance to be part of this historical delegation.

This land is your land,

This land is my land…

And the times

They are a changin’

Good afternoon fellow delegates, alternates and political warriors.  I am LUIS MOSCOSO:  community organizer, union activist and Democratic “CHANGE AGENT!”

YOU are the FORCE for CHANGE I’ve been organizing for – and Senator Obama is the LEADER for CHANGE that is so desperately needed now!

I am excited to be here with all of you. The ENERGY of INCLUSION that has been set in motion cannot be stopped!  WE are a force to be reckoned with. YOU are the America I’ve always dreamed of.

I have been in these battles before – and I’m ready for the FIGHT of OUR LIVES.

Let me work with you to take back our country starting in Denver at the Democratic National Convention – then back at home in our Congressional and Legislative Districts and throughout our State.

I am Luis Moscoso, # 44

…working to change these times!

Luis was elected along side  Jessica Beckett, Kendal Hamilton, Ron Oshima,  as the 1st Congressional District’s ( Washington State ) national delegates for Barack Obama

Mr. Villaneuva, a founder and past president of United Farmworkers — and a recent candidate for State Senate — gave the nominating speech for Luis Moscoso’s re-election as State Party Secretary. Ricardo Polintan, State Committee Member from the 47th District, gave the seconding speech.

    Thanks for the W.A congrats…
    I hope you didn’t forget Mom’s Birthday ( THAT was yesterday ) I did.
    Don’t tell her.

  3. Thank you all for your kind words of support and congratulations. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that my election would not have been possible if not for the hard work of my wife Anita. Not only has she been supportive she also has “my back” defending me from the petty politics that are part of everyday political life. What you also may not know is how dependent I am on her constructive criticism re issues and tactics. I’m the “strategic” thinker. But she helps me get my thoughts into action. She would be much more dynamic than me if she was in my position. But her passion is writing and I wish her the best in that. (We just celebrated our 18th Anniversary yesterday!)

  4. Awww. That’s so sweet.

Much respect to both of you for all of your community activism. Politics is a rough life. My mom used to help the local politicians campaign and I’d go on the trail with her. I wished I had such tough skin as the politicians do.

Congrats again and I’ll look for you on tv at the DNC.
