Real Archaeologists Don’t Have Whips

Real archaeologists don’t have whips

I can vouch for that.

I wanted to be an archaeologist pre- Indiana Jones ( this was in 1973 or maybe 1974  so I was about 10 ) until I met one.

He was wearing a Grateful Dead t-shirt and reeked like Patchouli and when I asked if he had ever been in a mummy’s tomb  he said yes, several in fact.

 So of course I asked

” are they really cursed? “

And he says no.

He enjoyed telling me no.

Jerk.

So I said,  ” that’s too bad. “

I decided to be a Mortician after that.

  1. Where I work, they have a mummy case on the floor directly above mine. Yes, this is true. The keepers of the mummy case have not opened it yet; they are waiting for some experts on mummy cases to open it. But they did stick a camera in a crack and cannot see a mummy.

So, the question is, if there’s no mummy in the mummy case can you still be cursed when you open it?

  2. I never went to university, but in later life, bearing in mind my interests, I decided if I had gone, I’d want to be an archaeologist.
I’ve systematically wound up my kids at the right age saying they should be an archaeologist and live my dream – jokingly, of course.
Suffice to say, there are no archaeologists in my family 🙂

  3. Hi L.
Short story-if you disturb the mummy , I think that means to poke around it, you know with something like a camera…yes you are in trouble Sitting under it…nah. If there’s no mummy?

Gee. I’d say you’re cursed anyway. I mean, why the heck not.

Hi Tony- I’m still going to find some time to take a class and if I run into some dream busting acamdemic type who rains on everybody’s parade I’m going to pants them in front of the class.

    See if I don’t.

  4. I say we start a trend…writers turned archaeologist who get to wear cool hats ( still have mine from my hero worship of Kolchak from the Nightstalker Series…original series thank you very much ) and carry whips.

We can’t forget those…they rock as much as the hat.
