For Wolfgang on Día de los Muertos

If your memory serves you well
We’re going to meet again and wait
So I’m going to unpack all my things
And sit before it gets too late
No no one alive will come to you
With another tale to tell
And you know that we shall meet again
If your memory serves you well

how Wolfgang became Insanity:

explained in a letter to my friend Heather Blakey:

…Anyway, Wolfie does some strange things. Once he got mad at me for DARING to shoo him of the bed  when I was changing the sheets and he went outside to the walk in front of my window when it was just pouring down rain.

He sat there with his back to me, just twitching and slamming his tail on the ground.

Well, I know a tantrum when I see one, so I left him out there.

He was literally sitting in a puddle by the time I checked on him the second time. I had to go outside and pick him up. It was like picking up a stone statue of a cat because he wouldn’t move a muscle. Oh, and he managed to do that dead weight drop so he went from 14 to I swear 30 pounds in the space of 15 minutes.

The day that happened I started calling him Insanity Jones whenever he did weird things.

Where The Insanity Began

sounded like Indiana Jones, but I couldn’t do it. It’s Wolfie’s story and that’s that.

  1. Ah, Indiana Jones, Insanity Jones, okay, I see where the Jones part comes from.

These are rough days. It opens up the memory corridors and they seem so dark and lonely at first. Just know, I’m around. Keep the doors open.

Amadeus is one of my favorite movies. I got the soundtrack off Ebay a while back. Have the DVD. I don’t know if anyone has ever done jealousy anywhere close to perfection as F. Murray Abraham did in that movie.

  2. Hi Kitty

I actually got the name Insanity Jones from a story called ” The Insanity of Jones ” by Algernon Blackwood- he was one of my favorite writers.

    F Murray rules.

And thank you for being there Kitty- you’re a peach AND The Bee’s Knees.

  3. AM, I know you’re not really into the mushy stuff, but doing a Day of the Dead altar for Wolfie is very sweet and touching. I hope you were able to fined some sugar candies in the shape of cat chow.
