Roswell is an amazing little town with one giant claim to fame. The actual crash site is quite a ways out of town- be sure to look for the antelopes and coyotes while you’re drivng out there. The crash site is north of town, drive south out of town (it’ll only take you about 20 minutes) and you’ll be at the Llano Estacado and the Pecos River- must sees. West of town is Ruidoso and Cloudcroft and a beautiful valley called La Luz. East of town is Texas- don’t go there. Feedlots and dead armadillos- sorry, Texans. Bring hats and sunscreen and when they tell you “it’s a dry heat- get into the shade and it’s cool”- remember this- there is no shade 🙂
Hi Mari
I can’t make it this year…but I am SO there in 2008
I’ve been told that ‘shade’ is a myth down there so I’ll be ready!
My family went to Roswell when we went on a western states trip. My son, age 8, read everything in the creepy museum –right up your alley, amm — and he hated reading anything at that age. My 4yo went wide-eyed throughout the day, and insisted she buy herself a 2 ft. tall plastic alien. My kids played with that thing for years.
I will never go back — eeeee. Creeepy! But the town will fit you perfectly. Start saving your pennies now. Buy your very own alien.

I am there Bo!
I just think this festival is going to be a blast, all these people are at their creative best…I’d give anything to hear their stories.
