Pop Tarts Don’t Belong In Morgues

Lindsay Lohan was assigned Morgue Duty so the Pop Tart can learn what happens when drunken morons ( ahem Lindsay ) get behind the wheel of a car and drive around like they are the last living creature ( or at least the only one that matters ) on the face of the earth.

But that’s not what concerns me here.

I just find this entire ” plea deal” to be offensive.

The very thought that some actress who got busted for drunk driving could be in a position to lay eyes ( let alone hands ) on somebody’s child or mother or husband who may have ended up in the Morgue because of drunk driver ( ahem again Lindsay ) makes my skin crawl.

And that’s no easy task- I’ve worked Funeral Home.

Those recently departed loved ones are not teaching aides for snot nosed drunks- they are human beings and deserve some dignity in death.

I doubt if Lohan understands the concept of other people…but you would think there is somebody involved with the legal system or in the entire state of California that would.

UCLA STUDY

A study conducted by UCLA’s Department of Psychiatry has revealed that the kind of face a woman finds attractive on a man can differ depending on where she is in her menstrual cycle.

For example: If she is ovulating, she is attracted to men with rugged and masculine features. However, if she is menstruating or menopausal, she tends to be more attracted to a man with duct tape over his mouth and a spear lodged in his forehead while he is on fire.

No further studies are expected

well…I guess that’s because there isn’t much more to say.

because he’s not white

and I’m not either.

I’ve been told I should not to support Richardson because then I’d be practicing Identity Politics.

When I say I like Edwards I’ve been reminded, somewhat sternly, that he’s a White Man from the South-

he’s not the candidate for people like me I’ve been told.

Next thing you know I’m going to need to start asking which water fountain I should be drinking from.

Lynnwood Activists Gather In Support the LGBT Community As

Hate-Group Holds Conference in Lynnwood, Washington

The Watchmen on the Wall are an international anti-gay extremist group who are meeting October 19-21 at the Lynnwood Convention Center. The Watchmen are popular among Christian fundamentalists and Russian-speaking evangelicals from the former Soviet Union. Members have been increasingly active in several West-coast US cities generally considered gay-friendly, including Sacramento, Portland, and Seattle.

The purpose of the conference in Lynnwood is for the group to further plan their work against homosexuals and “homosexualists” (Watchmen term for straight people supportive of LGBT equality). A featured speaker at the conference will be local Pastor Ken Hutcherson, founder of the Antioch Bible Church and vocal opponent of LGBT equality.

As news of the Watchmen gathering spread throughout the greater Seattle area, the response of outrage has been tremendous. Concern is high given the anti-gay violence that tends to swarm around Watchmen events. Activists from Lynnwood along with many groups are hosting an alternative event to show the support and concern for the LGBT community even as this conference happens. The event “Love and Pride: Lynnwood Responds to Hate” will feature a gathering of speakers, including members of the clergy, and a special free screening of Inlaws & Outlaws, a local-produced documentary featuring the real-life stories of Washington LGBT people.

The ICE Man Cometh!

ICE agents set up at least two checkpoints on streets in Lynwood last night around 11pm.

They arrested at least 6 Latino men.

Legal observers spotted white vans unmarked at the Lynwood Police
Department (this coincides with the reports we have from witnesses). We are
going to continue with our plans to monitor in Lynwood in the mornings the
next couple days but now at mainly at the Police Department.

Before I left for work this morning I checked my wallet to make sure I had a copy of my Social Security Card, a pay stub and a copy of my birth certificate.

Why?

Beause the ICE Men are staying at the Hotel down the street from where I live and I look Latina- I’m Filipina but I figure to these guys we all look the same.

And then I thought…you know what, bite me.

A Sudden Cold Front Hits Lynnwood, WA

50 ICE agents with uniforms and luggage checked in early this morning at Embassy Suites Hotel in Lynnwood. They came with 1 bus and 3 vans.

This is our plan of action:

1. we want Lynnwood residents to know there are ICE agents in their community

2. based in our experience, we expect that a raid might happen

3. based in our experience we ask community to be vigilant and safe from ICE activity

4. fear in the community is based on ICE well known targeted racial profiling raids

5. key community members and organizations are ready to support and educate the larger community about their rights, – distributing know your rights materials; legal observers are on site to record ICE activity; organizations are doing outreach to the mainstream media; organizations are trying to set up legal help

6. We want raids and detentions to stop. Raids are an outrage and are hurting our community.

The Indiana Toilet Monster

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday (I don’t mean my birthday…I mean Halloween) I thought I’d post some nifty Halloween Related Urban Legends from now until the BIG DAY.

I’ve decided to start with

The Toilet Monster

The toilet monster is a girl named Carmen who was pushed down into a sewer by her classmates and died. Carmen Whitehead lived in Indiana, so the story goes- and for some reason it’s important to mention that so I did.

Okay…back to the story.

So shortly after Carmen meets her death in the Sewer this post shows up at MySpace:

Carmen will get you…

To fill you in, Carmen from Indiana will come up from you Shower or Toilet and drag you down to where she is in the sewers and then she’ll kill you.

I think it would be way more efficient to kill you first and then flush you down the toilet- but hey I didn’t write this.

I did however enjoy it because I can’t help but to wonder how many of you will think about Carmen The Indiana Toilet Monster the next time you visit the smallest room in the house.

I think that’s pretty darn funny.

Urban Legends…. they are more then amusing stories they are the gift that keeps on giving.
