Enduring Bones  THE IMMORTAL PART by A.E. Housman (A Shropshire Lad was originally published in 1896. This Web edition is based on the 1908 edition printed by Ballantyne, Hanson, & Co.) When I meet the morning beam, Or lay me down at night to dream, I hear my bones within me say, "Another night, another day. "When shall this slough of sense be cast, This dust of thoughts be laid at last, The man of flesh and soul be slain And the man of bone remain? "This t … Read More

Once Upon A Nightmare (via Halloween At Anita’s Owl Creek Bridge)

Once Upon A Nightmare " Once I had a nightmare " my friend Bonnie told me " about this witch who tried to break into my house " " Okay, " I tell Bonnie thinking this sounds like a good story to kill that long bus ride home from Seattle " so how did it go? " "Well, in my dream I heard my dog crying and in my dream I woke up and went and looked out my bedroom window. " " And your dog was…" " Hanging from a tree. " " Like Hell you say. Bancho Church Has A Grave Thought (via Halloween At Anita’s Owl Creek Bridge)

Bancho Church Has A Grave Thought Bancho Church is a horror writer- at least that's what he gets paid to do and that's what he says he does for a living and on good days he'll say to himself, " I am a horror writer " and mentally he gives himself a big kiss. But when Bancho has days where he spends most of his time watching video clips on his computer and chatting on-line with his friends he doesn't feel like a writer. On those days he wishes he had stuck with his original line o … Read More

Because Wednesdays are dull… (via develish1)

DEV DOES IT AGAIN!

Yay For Dev!

Because Wednesdays are dull... Well Wednesdays are dull. I mean, after Tuxday anything's going to be a let down, right? Well after seeking suggestions from you all for far longer than I care to think about, I decided to simply act on a possibly random comment, and run with it… You can therefore blame today's selections on Jacy, as it's the result of her comment the other day "Oh, I do love him scruffy…" So with that in mind, how's this lot work for you Jacy? *small thud* scr … Read More

A Carver’s Tale (via Halloween At Anita’s Owl Creek Bridge)

I wrote this for Halloween last year…what can I say, my Grandmothers would have LOVED it.

A Carver’s Tale " How did you get so good at carving pumpkins? " " Practice." Enid told her Granddaughter as she delicately put the tip of her butcher's knife against the side pumpkin's blank face. " Lots and lots of practice." She pushed the knife into he pumpkin's flesh and as she broke the skin she told Aubrey, " I love that smell." " That pumpkin smell?" Enid looked over the pumpkin and said, " That what?" " That pumpkin smell." Enid shrugged and then pulled … Read More

No Worries

I am working on stories for Halloween.

I was concerned I would not be be inspired this year

because I have been distracted by the ‘real world’.

Now

my only concern is that my monsters will not be able to measure up to the less than savory characters I have been crossing paths  with in my day to day life.

That I suppose, will be the challenge I have to meet as a writer.

Years ago I saw this movie about these creatures that looked like roaches and one of them killed a girl by hiding on her phone- so when she went to make a call it attached itself to her ear and then it somehow heated itself up and burned itself into the side of her head.

I have hated phones ever since.

I also hate electricity but that’s another story for another day.
