Thoughts On Easter From The Esther Bunny’s Sister

Do you know why I love Easter?

For starters you get to wear pretty clothes, eat chocolate and in some cases get presents.

I know, that sounds a lot like Valentines Day and Christmas. But take away the disembodied human hearts that seem to float around like Donovan’s  Brain and what do you get? That’s right- in the end even  Valentine’s Day- with all that potential to be more is  just another Holiday.

But Easter?

I don’t care what anyone else thinks

It is a morbid holiday wrapped in pastel colors and delivered to you in a  basket and said  basket is left  by your sleeping defenseless  form by a rabbit that can walk around like a human.

I’ve heard that those bunnies are over six feet tall and that they have magical powers.

Honestly, a reasonable person may think this scenario will not end well.

That’s why I love Easter.

It’s just like Halloween-minus the demons and witches and graveyards of course.

Personally, I think Easter is Halloween for people who don’t want to admit to themselves they are into the odd and macabre in a very big way

Painting  up eggs to make them  up to look happy and then placing them in a decorative way in a  basket?

UGH.

I worked in a Funeral Home.

We called that  process the dressing and casketing  of the dead and if you think I will  be sitting around cracking hardboiled eggs open this Sunday morning you  are SO wrong.

When I was a kid-well, to be honest I’d  be doing it to this day if she didn’t live so far away and I hate to drive at night – I used to get up in the middle of the night steal my little sister’s chocolate bunny out of her basket and sneak out into the hall with it.

Then I would bust off the bunny ears and eat just one- I’d share the other with my dog or brother.

The rule was whoever got there first got the ear.

Then I would put the earless bunny back into her basket.

I can’t help but to feel that of all of my sins if I were to make it to the Pearly Gates THAT is the one that will keep me out of heaven and this is why…

My sister’s name is Esther and when we used to call her ” The Esther Bunny “

I read this to my husband and I asked him if he thought it was funny.

He said, ” its funny as Hell “

I was a little concerned at that line.

So I said ” but you weren’t laughing.”

He told me he was laughing on the inside.

Yeah, you do that I thought to myself as I laughed  ( on the inside ) at the thought of his earless – soon to be headless chocolate bunny waiting to visit him Easter Morning.

 Can You Spell Fail?

I thought not

Once I told someone that I thought that all babies looked like hairless baby chimps and she said, ” that’s true- except for my daughter, she truly was beautiful .”

Uh.

No she wasn’t, I saw her baby when she was a newborn.

To be fair, all Mothers say that-love is blind you know.

However, I have found an exception to that rule.

Meet Taco  Baby

I have no desire to see the new Wolfman movie.

I don’t care who stars in it, I don’t care how
great the special effects are.

It’s a REMAKE of the original.

Heaven forbid anyone anywhere take a chance and do something I don’t know…what’s the word.

Oh yeah.

ORIGINAL.

But pop on over to the website for the movie- check it out for yourself. The Wolfman isn’t exactly a bad story, so seeing it wouldn’t  be a total waste of time.

Psychos For Sanity

My husband’s friend Hugo co-wrote and is featured in this  music video.

With music videos in general I feel like what I’m seeing is either the music or the images over powering the other. Some are little movies in themselves. I suppose that’s alright, but if it’s the music you want to enjoy I figure the wrong set of image can actually ruin the music experience for the listener.

That has happened to me more than a few times.

This is a great song with an interesting set of images that work well together, so I enjoyed the complete work- I hope you do as well

  I Think This Is Funny

This Is My Favorite Color

This song makes me want to roller skate up and down my street and egg people’s houses.

Even the ones I like.

Cheers

On Day Eight I actually enjoy Christmas Shopping…so tell me, how did that trip to Mall Hell Go for you?

I went Christmas Shopping last night.

To be more specific, I gave my husband a list of things I wanted and we went to the best store in the world…

We went to Archie McPhee’s.

Archie’s is home to wonderful things like Crazy Cat Lady and Jesus Action Figures and Pirate Lunchboxes

It is well stocked with things like zombie and pirate finger puppets and bacon and egg bandages.

In other words, it is a big piece of heaven on earth.

Where else would you stand patiently and wait for your turn to check out a shelf full of things like mini-flying monkeys, screaming pickles and Angry Mob Play Sets?

I can tell you this much, there aren’t many stores you can go to right now that are crowded full of holidays shoppers where you can hear people laughing and having a good time as they take their turn to get from one aisle to the next.

I worked in a Mall for eight billion long punishing, unforgiving years. I haven’t enjoyed Christmas Shopping for years…that is YEARS.

Last night at Archie’s I had a good time, I could easily order from a catalog or go on line- but if you can- do what I am going to do from now on-stop in for a visit because its fun and during these unfunny times we could all use a few good laughs.

Wet Newspaper Does Not Stick To Hot Glass

I learned something new today.

Wet newspaper does not stick to wet glass.

I also learned how marbles are made.

In other words.

It was a good day:

And in case you missed it

David Tennant was not voted as The Greatest Scot.

I don’t know what the world is coming too.

But check out this clip- his Sister  has some good things to say about him.

Now that’s impressive – I’d rather eat my own ear wax then to say something nice about my brother.

I’m just kidding, I just wanted to be able to use that eating ear wax line.

Enjoy.

Hey Ya- These Students Are AWESOME

This video was created by students here in Washington State at Shorecrest High School for a Video Production Class.

(Shorecrest High School a public high school in Shoreline, Washington (grades 9 through 12). Shorecrest was founded in 1961 and its mascot is Otis the Fighting Scot, and students refer to themselves as “Scots,” or the “Highlanders,” a reference to the Clan Gordon. Shorecrest is one of the two high schools in the Shoreline School District.)

The video was well done, the choice of the song was excellent-

however

the way they tied it together and told a story?

It’s pure youtube magic

so check it out and

ENJOY

and pass it on if the spirit moves you to do so…

which I’m sure it will.
