Best Of….

Do you know if you Google ‘David Tennant’ and put in

‘Best Of ‘

you get the following:

David Tennant is an actor.

He happens to be very good at what he does – he stars as ” Doctor Who ” and he’s done some wicked great projects.

But someone somewhere thought this picture was

” the best of David Tennant “

How shallow, how sexist,

how right they are

Just What The Doctor Ordered

Some of you David Tennant fans…you KNOW who you are…may need some therapy yourselves after seeing this.

May I recommend Doctor Phil or the hard liquor of your choice?

Don’t Cliff Me John! Don’t Cliff Me !

So after a long day at work I get home and there’s a message on my machine.

It’s from my friend.

He says three words.

” More David Tennant “

Oh and if you can actually hear the click as someone angrily punches their hang up button

it’s was four words.

Let me tell you

my friends had better appreciate me

because if I were to get pulled up into a spaceship they would be absolutely friendless.

Think about it you whinners…and this is for you!

Today I told this friend of mine-

 who looks like Doctor Who

that the Doctor dies in the episode airing Friday night.

Gee I said.

That bites that you look like a Dead Guy.

He doesn’t die my friend said.

Oh Yes.

Yes he does I said.

And then my friend told me that I play with words the way other people play with their food.

And that sometimes it’s about as much fun to listen to me as to watch someone chew with their mouth open.

Yeah.

You keep talking like that Dead Man Walking….you just keep on talking.

Never Ride A Harley To A Sci-Fi Convention

Back in the 80’s me and my friend rode our motorcycles to a Doctor Who Convention and saw Colin Baker- who hands down knew how to work a crowd-.

Anyway.

Me and my friend were Musicians and we looked the part all of the time so we showed up in leather jackets with heavy dark eyeliner and torn up and safety pinned clothes.

Now the boys liked us ( the ones dressed up like espeacially the ones dressed up like Tom Baker- never did figure that one out) and a few of the girls and bless their hearts that took guts because nobody else would come within five feet of us.

You know who else was really nice to us?

Colin Baker

Colin Baker was more then happy to chat with us for a very long time when we lined up for autographs.

He was cool.

I had a great time at those Sci-Fi Conventions, as weird as they may look from the outside I respected every costumed over the top Fan because it takes mucho amounts of guts to show the world who you are and celebrate it.

Still.

It makes me wonder, if me and Margot showed up at one of those conventions on motorcycles today looking the way we did then- we wouldn’t be a side show because one must consider this picture from the Promo from ” The Stolen Earth ” episode of Doctor Who.

Doctor Who has lip locked with at least four of these characters- and one is a guy.

So I wonder…how would this Doctor have done at a Sci-Fi Convention back in the 80’s?

Who am I kidding.

He would have scored in a big way

 with the Tom Baker Fans.

Especially if he had shown up on a Harley and in Leather.

So Anita, I Hear Doctor Wonderful Dies

These so called friends of mine have been sending me sympathy cards

because

they heard that David Tennant will be the Doctor no more.

So am I mad at them for them teasing me?

For sending me the LOL Momento Mori Pictures with David Tennant speaking English in an ” I Can Has Cheeseburger Accent” ?

Nope.

I’m not upset because knowledge is power and I’ve learned a few things:

What I learned courtesy of the BBC news is the ending of the DW Grand Finale and I’ve also learned that these friends of mine do not read THIS blog where I spilled the beans about the Grand Finale coming up on Friday about three weeks ago.

That surprised me because my friends have said:

( okay, most of the time they were drunk when they said it )

…Oh…I love your stuff Anita…you’re so funny Anita…I put your links at my blog Anita…I’m always at your blog Anita…blah …blah… blah…

Brother.

What a bunch of Toad Crunchers and Forked Tongued Snake Monkeys I have managed to befriend over the years. I feel like that little girl in Frankenstein who tosses flowers into the river with the Monster and  when she runs out of flowers he drowns her ..but I digress.

See, I can say all this stuff here because I’ve learned if I want to talk smack about my friends  who are the kind of people who find ways to cheat on computer games before they actually play the game I can just say it here…

because if I want to keep secrets from them

obviously…THIS IS THE PLACE TO DO IT.

SNARK ATTACK.

Thanks guys…you AREN’T useless…you saved me from a no post day…

Now…on to serious stuff…

Here’s some info about the Grand Finale…and even if you’ve been checking the spoilers and know how it ends I’ve been told it’s a heck of a show and is NOT to be missed.

Is There A Doctor In The House?

I want to know what’s going to happen to The Doctor on Doctor Who…and I’ve decided to try figuring it out the old fashioned way.

Oh sure.

Powers of Deduction- who do you think I am?

 Sherlock Holmes?

Get a grip.

I’m talking about Black Magic.

And don’t look at me like that- many a Politician and Super Model have used the Dark Arts to their advantage.

So here we go.

I’ve got a Ouji Board:

And the Planchette:

Now, place your fingers lightly  on the planchette-your index fingers smarty pants okay…now we place our fingers on the Planchette and chant

Itchi Gitchi Ya Ya Da Da
Itchi Gitchi Ya Ya Here
Mocha-choca-lata Ya Ya
Creole Lady Marmalade….

Quit laughing… it’s the only chant I know and  this won’t work if you laugh- okay…here’s my request to the Spirit World quit laughing or you won’t hear it:

I want to know if David Tennant is going to be in the next season of Doctor Who- ooooohhhh the sounds of silence…I guess that means I go on with:

Spirits of The Board….

What will happen to The Doctor in the upcoming episode, ” Turn Left “- specifically…will  David Tennant still be the Doctor?

and the answer is:

S-T-A-R-T

D-R-I-N-K-I-N-G

UH-OH.

Coffee Tea or Who?

from David Tennant- the site- HERE

Remember Nyssa and The Skirt?

I’ve been watching an on-line soap opera for weeks now.

It deals with the Doctor Who Regeneration issue.

If you’re a fan of the show you get it.

If you’re an American Fan you won’t get it for awhile because we’re behind a season here so if you don’t want to spoil that for yourself you should stop reading.

The IF Factor

If you’re lifer fan the cliff that writer Russell T Davies left  you on hardly made you bat an eye for two reasons:

Traditionally Doctor Regeneration Stories happen to viewers much in the same way as lightning strikes…you’re just happily viewing along when zap sizzle fzzzzz….the Doctor is GONE.

This regeneration went on and on and on in a weird sort of way. So Davies had given away far to much in Pt. 1 and it was done on purpose.

Reason Number 2

I’m guessing it’s practical- and it hinges on the Doctor himself.

David Tennant has achieved, in a relatively short amount of time, the kind of fan base that PBS here in America took years to build up AND in the end had not really helped the actors here in America.

The Time Rift

In the past by the time actors playing the Timelord have hit America the actor had usually moved on to other parts and wasn’t as focused on the show in the same way the fans were. That made for some pretty disjointed PR and interviews- the actor may have been off the show for a year or so, but it may have only aired in America a few months before.

Still a fan base is a base but this base wasn’t one that was going to be very helpful to the actor himself.

Now the current Doctor, who is mega popular,  gets ‘real time’ with the fans, he gets to do some cool gigs in the U.K. that get talked about in America or Canada or the Space Station on the same night they air or he goes live and there is no delay factor in keeping people up to date on where he is career wise.

For me, on a personal note, I like the fact that Tennant is making his acting bones in his own backyard which is something I can respect as far as work ethics go.

So much like the Doctor, the actor playing him has time on his side ( ha ha ha ) why rush things and blow a great deal for himself by walking away from what looks like a great partnership?

Now that takes us back to the Cliff and the question: as fans are we willing to forgive Davies and the publicity machine that dropped us off that cliff only to grab us back before we hit bottom?

Remember Nyssa and the Skirt?

In the last episode she was in Nyssa ( Sarah Sutton ) dropped her skirt as a sort of goodbye gesture to her fans.

From what I’ve just read, in what can only be seen as a kiss and makeup gesture, Tennant / Who fans were treated to a few seconds of a naked Doctor Who.

As far as apologies go it does beat flowers and a card.

So- okay sure, all is forgiven.

But come on now…a few seconds after all we’ve been through?

::: Doctor who? Fans’ relief as Tennant stays:::

Who’s Done It Best

In the two Part Doctor Who episode ” The Forest of The Dead”  and ” Silence In The Library” evil  creatures are hiding in a city that houses a computer-

a big computer, a huge computer, a living computer.

And those evil creatures that feed off of organic material ( well, human flesh ) are living in….

books.

Lots and lots of books.

Books that are made out of wood pulp.

Paper.

This made me think:

When we give kudos to the new ” Sci Fi ” stories, those kudos get tossed around like confetti because woman can now shoot big guns and sometimes even get to be Captains on actual spaceships and have ripley muscles just like their male counter parts.

But come on how is that cutting edge exactly?

Some writers just figured out that you can substitute male characters for female characters because really, they can do the same exact job.

Sort of like real life.

Anyway.

In this Doctor Who episode we did see something cutting edge, we saw something unique we saw a story that takes place in the future ( well, that’s a guess where Doctor Who is concerned-but stick with me here ) and in that future were books.

Books with pages that you can turn, pages that crackle and pop when they’re new and whisper when they get old.

How cutting edge is that?

Very.

After all.

A Science Fiction story about Time Travel had at it’s core…books…

books in a Library.

In these times when we walk around with a phone that is sort of like having a second brain that you can hold in your hand ( also a addressed in Doctor Who episode: Planet Of The Ood )

I found ” The Planet Of The Ood “episode to be more of a shot across the bow of the hi-tech ship everyone I know seems to be sailing on then then to be story a story about slavery or disease.

So I will freely admitt I thought is was a riot when my Cell Phone enslaved friends watched this and didn’t seem to see the comparison between themselves and the Ood and the guy who gets ” turned “.

I think that seeing a story about books

made me realize

how much I would miss them if they were gone.

So that must mean on some level

I must feel like they’re being taken away…made irrelevant.

When did that happen?

The funny thing is, The Doctor would know.

Doctor Who.

It has more then a real hot guy playing the lead role.

It happens to have some excellent stories too.

Enjoy…

and THINK next time you watch it.
