So today there is no shortage of comments and blog posts and news blurbs about this big event.
I do have my favorites though.
My first is my own, because I know how to pick those David Tennant pictures.
My next favorite is from
There’s this picture of the Doctor with a Sword in his hand ( quit snickering you pervs ) and the caption reads

Well.
I’m guessing that’s in reference to the Movie ” The Lion In The Winter ” which starred Peter O’Toole.
In case you’re not familiar with it The Lion In The Winter which also co-starred
Anthony Hopkins
Katherine Hepburn
Timothy Dalton (yowza )
and Nigel Terry
is movie about a highly dysfunctional family who lived in a castle and really, really hated each other.
Anyway.
It also came out three years before David Tennant was born.
I’m not sure why, but I find that funny.

There’s A Kind Of Hush…

This is a question
for Writers and Readers alike.
This is a picture of Russell T. Davies- he has written stories for Doctor Who
and
also pictured is David Tennant- he of course has played Doctor Who.
So I as I looked at this picture the writer in me said:
You know who the real Doctor Who is
in this picture don’t you?

So the role of Doctor Who is going to be taken over by actor Matt Smith ( age 26 )and his companion ( that label kills
me ) is a 21 year old actress who has just landed a role that will take her from the role of reletively unknown to very well known actress.
I’m sure that the writing will be great, that the acting will be fine but I wonder if the ages of the new cast is an attempt to lure those Twilight and Harry Potter Fans to a show they probably have watched their parents going crazy for most of their young lives.
It smells like it though and I’ll be honest- that really does bother me.
First of all, David Tennant was not exactly an old man when he took the role over and for heavens sake Christopher Eccelston was not exactly a fossil when he pulled the TARDIS out of the PBS basment and slammed that baby back into Prime Time.
I’d like to think this isn’t the case and that the edgy casting that brought Doctor Who back is going to work again. After all, when Chris Eccelston was cast as the Doctor- Peter Davidson’s daughter’s name bubbled up for the character of ” Rose ” ( imagine the ink that would have got them had she been cast in that role – hey she’s David Tennant’s girlfriend now so it’s not like she got cheated here) and that non-cop out decision turned out to be a smart one.
So fingers crossed all- let’s hope that when the Doctor and the series regenerates, it is into another unique and interesting Doctor Who and that he avoids becoming simply a Doctor Tween.

And how did I come to that conclusion, you may be wondering?
Well.
In a recent poll Blockbuster customers voted David Tennant number one in the ” Favorite Sci-Fi Hunk ” Category.
I thought that was funny- I mean, I am a total fan…but hunk? Well…you know, LOL
