The Inhuman Condition

I’ve heard this may be a hoax.

I would like to believe that’s true

because

 what concerns me is this:

If you’re able to do this to a defenseless animal.

What on Earth are you capable of doing to a defenseless human being?

The Humane Society of the U.S. is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to the owner of a pit bull, abandoned in a Renton parking garage. A security guard at Valley Medical Center spotted six month-old Milo on Feb. 9, starving and dehydrated.”He just looked horrible,” said Mary Tahlequah who has since adopted Milo. “He was scared, skinny, he just didn’t look good.”Tahlequah’s friend Stefanie Trumbla was called to a Renton veterinarian after her mother offered to take care of the dog. She said Milo was so weak, he used his elbows to walk. His paws were wounded, his elbows scraped so badly his bone was sticking out.

The vet told Trumbla Milo suffered from a birth defect described as a “flexor contractor.” The dog’s muscles were shortened and that prevented him from using his wrists normally.

Home video shot six days after Trumbla rescued Milo shows the dog limping with his paws facing inward. He is unable to put weight on his hind legs. Tahlequah said Milo’s condition was so bad because his previous owner did not take proper care of him.

“He was left in a cage or crate a lot. Wounds on his elbow were from trying to get around,” she said.

Vets suggested euthanizing Milo but Tahlequah refused to accept that as an option. She pitched in $5,000 for Milo’s medical costs and treated his wounds from her Kent home.

A few weeks after he was rescued, Milo can slowly walk down the stairs with his heavily bandaged legs but he still needs a metal plate placed in his wrist. Tahlequah said that surgery would cost $5,000 more and she does not have the money for that.

She has set up a fund at Wells Fargo Bank and created the website http://www.pleasehelpmilo.com/  documenting Milo’s recovery in hopes of raising the funds needed for the puppy’s medical costs.

“He’s got a really great soul in there and a willing spirit to live,” she said.

The Lesser of Us

hamlet.gif

Picture this:

You buy a car or an electrical appliance and it comes with this warning label:

This product is perfectly safe- HOWEVER there is an outside chance it could- for no reason burst into flames and kill you. Buy it anyway though because the chances are very small it will happen TO YOU.

So now we must ask for the health and safety of anyone who eats beef: Have the actions of some people who like to torture animals on their way to the slaughter house and this mega industry endangered at least ONE of us?

Consider it:

They’ve slapped a warning label on every piece of beef processed at their plant and they tell YOU not to worry because it probably won’t effect YOU.

Oh sure, I’m so glad to know that – now I’m ready to go out and eat a big juicy steak or burger because:

what they did could have endangered my friends or family.

BUT NOT ME!

You jerks.

The video of how they treated those animals have put me off beef for the rest of my life- and this comment alone sealed the deal:

“On the one hand, I’m glad that the recall is taking place. On the other, it’s somewhat disturbing, given that obviously much of this food has already been eaten,” said Jean Halloran, director of food policy initiatives at Consumers Union. It’s really closing the barn door after the cows left.”

How funny.

This is funny too-it will be a cold day in Hell before I ever buy beef again and serve it to my friends and family.

Ha Ha ha.
