Poor Old Christabel

Of all the SPAM that winds up in my SPAM box this SPAM is the most entertaining yet- it’s like a made for cable movie minus the commercials.

So here it is, the sad story of Christabel Brown

Comic By Natalie Dee

Dear God’s elect,

I am writing this mail to you with heavy tears In my eyes and great sorrow in my heart, My Name is Mrs Christabel Brown, and I am contacting you from my country Tunisia I want to tell you this because I don’t have any other option than to tell you as I was touched to open up to you.

I married to Mr. Smith Brown who worked with Tunisia embassy in Burkina Faso for nine years before he died in the year 2005. We were married for eleven years without a child.

He died after a brief illness that lasted for only five days. Since his death I decided not to remarry, When my late husband was alive he deposited the sum of US$ 8.5m (Eight Million Five hundred Thousand Dollars) in a bank in Ouagadougou the capital city of Burkina Faso in west Africa. Presently this money is still in the bank.
He made this money available for exportation of Gold from Burkina Faso mining.

Recently, my Doctor told me that I would not last for the period of seven months due to cancer problem.

The one that disturbs me most is my stroke sickness. Having known my condition I decided to hand you over this money to take care of the less-privileged people, you will utilize this money the way I am going to instruct here.

I want you to take 30 Percent of the total money for your personal use and your family. While 70% of the money will go to charity” people in the street and helping the orphanage. I grew up as an Orphan and I don’t have anybody as my family member, just to endeavour that the house of God is maintained. Am doing this so that God will forgive my sins and accept my soul because these sicknesses have suffered me so much.

As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the bank in Burkina Faso and I will also instruct the Bank Manger to issue you an authority letter that will prove you the present beneficiary of the money in the bank that is if you assure me that you will act accordingly as I Stated here.

Hoping to receive your reply:

Mrs. Christabel Brown

Friday

When I was a kid I lived for Fridays, I would have died for Friday because on Fridays here in Seattle we had a show on TV called ” Nightmare Theatre “.

Bio from the youtube clip:

“Nightmare Theater” ran on KIRO-TV (channel 7) in Seattle from 1965 – 1978. It was shown every Friday night at 11:30. It was hosted by “The Count” who introduced classic horror movies. If you were a kid and lived in the Seattle area during this period, you would have been well acquainted with The Count, who was a beloved local television fixture.

The Count was played by Joe Towey, who passed away in 1989.

This clip (from KIRO’s archives) appears to be the last episode of Nightmare Theater that was aired in 1978 – the movie feature is “Frankenstein: The True Story”, which was shown in the last episode, according to thetrashcollector.com:

When I was about 5 I was into this show in a very big way- at that  point me and my friend had convinced ourselves Jesus was  a Zombie, that the Primate House at the Woodlawn Park Zoo was a front for an Alien Invasion Force from Mars, and that being a Mad Scientist or a  Vampire Hunter were career options.

To this day, just for fun I still watch my scary movies on Fridays. I outline  my stories on Fridays and I do most of my research into the odd and macabre on Fridays too.

And do you know what tomorrow is?

Friday.

Let The Nightmare Fun Begin.

Carousel of Weird

I have heard that some people suffer from something called Coulrophobia– that is a fear of clowns. I can’t figure that one out, but it’s a real fear and I know people who have never been to a circus or a parade for fear of running into one.

However, there is something from the world of amusements that does give me the creeps and weirds me out.

Carousel Horses.

I don’t hate them, but in thinking about it I wouldn’t ride the horses on carousels. I’d ride the lions and fish or even the benches on a carousel.

I hated the horses.

I thought they were mean and evil and alive.

I still do.

For My Consideration

The Camera Obscura below is is in the collection of historical apparatus of the National University of Ireland in Galway. It was used for sketching; the tracing paper was placed on the missing glass inside the folding hood, and a 45° mirror inside the box reflected the image onto the paper.

TED WILLIAMS- HOMELESS MAN WITH A GOLDEN VOICE

NOTE FROM ORIGINAL CLIP ON YOUTUBE ( CLIP BELOW NOTE) :

RITCHEY’S CHANNEL

Throwing this video from the Columbus Dispatch out there, hoping we can find this talent a place to call home.

UPDATE-1: Many thanks go out to all of you who have been tossing phone numbers and e-mails my way for Ted’s sake. I went up to Hudson/I-71 (Columbus) today, but Ted wasn’t there. He is going to be on air tomorrow morning on radio station WNCI. I’ve left my contact info w/WNCI to call/e-mail me on a way to get your enormous opportunities over to him.

I’m going to give him a Trac phone (w/ample minutes) so that he can return calls to all of you.

Hopefully, in some way I’ll get in contact w/him. Peace.

UPDATE-2: To all of those who have been writing in I have learned that the radio station interviewing him tomorrow (1-5-11) a.m. is going to make him a formal offer. Whether true or not, we’ll see.

Hope it works out well for him. That was the whole point of me posting this video. I cannot thank enough everyone who was willing to do their part in offering Ted their helping hand.

Whoever lands him is certainly getting much more than a memorable personality; they’re getting a great human being as part of their team.

My best to all.

UPDATE-FINAL: Well everyone. You can give yourselves and Ted a high-five. He’s being given offers hand-over-fist over the air. He’ll be set for life.

My request to all. Whenever you run across a story such as this, don’t assume it’ll take a life of its own, on its own. It won’t. It can’t. There are too many other stories that drown out the one before it.

You need to spend time to get that story and its word out to many. If you care, you’ll do it.

Keep the faith, pay forward and always lend a hand; even if you’re the one who needs it.

God bless Mr. Williams. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of him for sometime to come.
