I am writing.
I do that when I’m not here-I actually write stories.
I just thought I’d stop by and goof off on the links because writing a book is hard work.
Grrrrr. Back to the mines.

Shakespeare’s immortal “To be, or not to be” takes on a whole new meaning (and medium) as classical stage and screen actors Sir Patrick Stewart and David Tennant reprise their roles for an upcoming television adaptation of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s (RSC) 2008 stage production of Hamlet. The production will be presented on PBS by the Great Performances series on Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at 8 p.m. EST (check local listings).

This is what I learned from this video: If you’ve only been alive for nine-years, the past decade you saw will be different from the way anyone over the age of 30 saw it. However, if you want to meet on common ground ask a nine-year old about Bloody Mary, Big Foot and Barack Obama and you will be on the page before you know it.
:::about this video:::
So much has defined this past decade, but imagine what it would be like if the past 9 years were the only years you had lived through. Yahoo! News editor Allison Louie-Garcia spoke to fourth graders in Orange County, Calif. to get some perspective on the ’00s from those who have only experienced it. From naming the biggest celebrities, to discussing computer habits, to explaining 9/11, these 9-year-olds’ answers–often funny, sometimes sobering, always candid–offered a clear snapshot of life in the 21st Century.
A MELBOURNE tourist believes she has caught photographic evidence of a ghost haunting Babinda Boulders.
Emily Carydias was on a tour that included Babinda Boulders on Thursday and was aware of the legend of the Aboriginal woman who is said to haunt the water.
Can you see the woman’s face in the water?
I can.
I’m not sure if it’s a real ghost or not- but I do like the story the photographer tells.
She just pointed her camera and clicked and says she caught a ghost on film.
Argue with that.

Kitty wrote a post called The Circus Kitchen and it is about going back and re-reading old blog entries.
In our convo she mentioned a post I did about a cemetery.
I went back and found it- so here it is Kitty- I’ve written a lot since then and I was glad to revisit this- it’s one of my favorite memories.

THE HUMAN REMAINS
One afternoon I didn’t have anything to do so I went to this cemetery and watched a grave digger dig a grave on top of a hill.
This brand of grave digging wasn’t being done horror movie style. This was a guy on a backhoe listening to a Walkman as he worked.
When he was done there was a hole in the ground waiting for somebody who was having a hell of a bad day to be lowered into it.
After he left I watched the tent go up and I saw the chairs being arranged and then the flowers were brought out from a van and these Funeral Directors fussed over each vase and when they were done it did look pretty amazing.
I mean, it takes skill to beautify a hole in the ground.

When the service began there was a little breeze and by the end of the service the wind was howling and the tent was lifted up a few times but it didn’t blow away.
Then after the family left the business of lowering the coffin into the ground was done and the grave was filled in and the grave flowers were carefully placed around the spot where the headstone would go.
When it was finished and just as the gates of the cemetery were shut the cemetery workers- including a couple of the funeral directors came up to the little hill and they started to take the tent down.
They took the canvas and laid it flat on the ground and stood along the edges.
Someone separated from the group and cruised around the top of the hill. I saw that person check the driveway up to the grave site and when they got back I heard someone say ” let’s do it. “
They lifted the canvas up with a snap and at the next big blast of wind they tossed the canvas up and it lifted them a few inches off the ground.
They laughed and did it a few more times and at one point there was a discussion about a higher place in the cemetery where they could get airborne but that was voted down because it was getting dark.
To this day I remember that storm and those people because in this place of somber ritual, a ritual designed to separate us from an unbearable reality so that we can move forward…somewhere in all of that death and decay

My husband’s friend Hugo co-wrote and is featured in this music video.
With music videos in general I feel like what I’m seeing is either the music or the images over powering the other. Some are little movies in themselves. I suppose that’s alright, but if it’s the music you want to enjoy I figure the wrong set of image can actually ruin the music experience for the listener.
That has happened to me more than a few times.
This is a great song with an interesting set of images that work well together, so I enjoyed the complete work- I hope you do as well
