The Doctor is trapped, alone, powerless and terrified, on the planet Midnight, as Russell T Davies’s Bafta Award-winning time-travelling drama continues. Soon, the knocking on the wall begins. Only a woman called Sky seems to know the truth – but as paranoia turns into a witch-hunt, Sky turns the Doctor’s greatest strengths against him, and a sacrifice must be made…

Just Name It

You Can Leave Your Hat On

 I heard this story

about a woman who was upset because no one cared that one of her co-workers had quit- there was no goodbye card or treats or anyone from this person’s department showing a slight bit of interest in this employees departure….

Maybe it had something to do with the fact that

this person used to send their trash from their lunch down a elevator to the  receptionish with a note to the that said

” please run this outside to the dumpster for me. “

Or

That this person demanded inter-office mail be placed directly into their hand

instead of their mailbox

which is how the rest of the employees in the building got their  mail

and that if this person was on the phone they asked you stand beside their desk with the mail or package

in your  hand

until they were done.

When nobody agreed with this woman’s sense of outrage she looked worried-

and then concerned

when

she was met with the stunned looks that she saw on at least  half a dozen faces.

I think that maybe tomorrow somebody will be eating lunch

all alone

from now on.

What If We Had A Party And Everyone Was Invited?

Obama Event

The  Obama campaign announced on Monday that Barack will leave the convention hall and join more than 75,000 people for a huge, free, open-air event where he will deliver his acceptance speech to the American people on Thursday, August 28th.

full story HERE:

Here are just a few of the articles that have been ran about the campaign’s decision…

Barack Obama will accept the Democratic presidential nomination next month at a Denver football stadium that can hold more than 75,000 people after the political party decided to open the event to a broader audience, officials said on Monday.

“Senator Obama’s candidacy has generated an enormous amount of excitement and interest,” Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, said in a statement. “By bringing the last night of the convention out to the people, we will be able to showcase Barack Obama’s positive, people-centered vision for our country in a big way.”

The Democratic Party holds its nominating convention August 25-28 in Denver, with daytime meetings and councils held at the Colorado Convention Center and televised evening events at the Pepsi Center sports arena, which can hold up to 20,000 people.

The party decided to hold the final evening’s televised events, including Obama’s nomination acceptance speech, at INVESCO Field at Mile High, the 76,125-seat stadium that is hone to the Denver Broncos football team.

The additional space enables the party to open the event a broader audience. Attendance at nominating conventions in generally limited to delegates, elected officials and volunteers, a convention spokeswoman said.

“This change in the convention program will allow thousands of first-time participants a chance to take part,” said convention co-chair Kathleen Sebelius, the governor of Kansas. “I can’t think of a better convention finale for our nominee, who has made reaching out to voters a hallmark of his campaign.”

Barack Obama’s campaign is inviting supporters to make a donation and enter for a chance to be one of 10 people flown to Denver for the Democratic National Convention in late August. The pitch, sent in an email Monday morning, was tied to the campaign’s announcement of plans to hold Obama’s acceptance speech at the 76,000 seat Invesco Field instead of the smaller Pepsi Center.

The campaign email said the speech will be “an amazing event, and Barack would like you to join him.”

Team Obama said special seats for selected supporters have been reserved.

The email said donors who give $5 or more by the end of July will be entered for a chance to win a trip to Denver, spending two days and nights in the mile high city.

The 10 winners will reportedly get to meet Obama backstage and watch the speech in person. Each winner can bring a guest.

Remember Nyssa and The Skirt?

I’ve been watching an on-line soap opera for weeks now.

It deals with the Doctor Who Regeneration issue.

If you’re a fan of the show you get it.

If you’re an American Fan you won’t get it for awhile because we’re behind a season here so if you don’t want to spoil that for yourself you should stop reading.

The IF Factor

If you’re lifer fan the cliff that writer Russell T Davies left  you on hardly made you bat an eye for two reasons:

Traditionally Doctor Regeneration Stories happen to viewers much in the same way as lightning strikes…you’re just happily viewing along when zap sizzle fzzzzz….the Doctor is GONE.

This regeneration went on and on and on in a weird sort of way. So Davies had given away far to much in Pt. 1 and it was done on purpose.

Reason Number 2

I’m guessing it’s practical- and it hinges on the Doctor himself.

David Tennant has achieved, in a relatively short amount of time, the kind of fan base that PBS here in America took years to build up AND in the end had not really helped the actors here in America.

The Time Rift

In the past by the time actors playing the Timelord have hit America the actor had usually moved on to other parts and wasn’t as focused on the show in the same way the fans were. That made for some pretty disjointed PR and interviews- the actor may have been off the show for a year or so, but it may have only aired in America a few months before.

Still a fan base is a base but this base wasn’t one that was going to be very helpful to the actor himself.

Now the current Doctor, who is mega popular,  gets ‘real time’ with the fans, he gets to do some cool gigs in the U.K. that get talked about in America or Canada or the Space Station on the same night they air or he goes live and there is no delay factor in keeping people up to date on where he is career wise.

For me, on a personal note, I like the fact that Tennant is making his acting bones in his own backyard which is something I can respect as far as work ethics go.

So much like the Doctor, the actor playing him has time on his side ( ha ha ha ) why rush things and blow a great deal for himself by walking away from what looks like a great partnership?

Now that takes us back to the Cliff and the question: as fans are we willing to forgive Davies and the publicity machine that dropped us off that cliff only to grab us back before we hit bottom?

Remember Nyssa and the Skirt?

In the last episode she was in Nyssa ( Sarah Sutton ) dropped her skirt as a sort of goodbye gesture to her fans.

From what I’ve just read, in what can only be seen as a kiss and makeup gesture, Tennant / Who fans were treated to a few seconds of a naked Doctor Who.

As far as apologies go it does beat flowers and a card.

So- okay sure, all is forgiven.

But come on now…a few seconds after all we’ve been through?
