Remember Nyssa and The Skirt?

I’ve been watching an on-line soap opera for weeks now.

It deals with the Doctor Who Regeneration issue.

If you’re a fan of the show you get it.

If you’re an American Fan you won’t get it for awhile because we’re behind a season here so if you don’t want to spoil that for yourself you should stop reading.

The IF Factor

If you’re lifer fan the cliff that writer Russell T Davies left  you on hardly made you bat an eye for two reasons:

Traditionally Doctor Regeneration Stories happen to viewers much in the same way as lightning strikes…you’re just happily viewing along when zap sizzle fzzzzz….the Doctor is GONE.

This regeneration went on and on and on in a weird sort of way. So Davies had given away far to much in Pt. 1 and it was done on purpose.

Reason Number 2

I’m guessing it’s practical- and it hinges on the Doctor himself.

David Tennant has achieved, in a relatively short amount of time, the kind of fan base that PBS here in America took years to build up AND in the end had not really helped the actors here in America.

The Time Rift

In the past by the time actors playing the Timelord have hit America the actor had usually moved on to other parts and wasn’t as focused on the show in the same way the fans were. That made for some pretty disjointed PR and interviews- the actor may have been off the show for a year or so, but it may have only aired in America a few months before.

Still a fan base is a base but this base wasn’t one that was going to be very helpful to the actor himself.

Now the current Doctor, who is mega popular,  gets ‘real time’ with the fans, he gets to do some cool gigs in the U.K. that get talked about in America or Canada or the Space Station on the same night they air or he goes live and there is no delay factor in keeping people up to date on where he is career wise.

For me, on a personal note, I like the fact that Tennant is making his acting bones in his own backyard which is something I can respect as far as work ethics go.

So much like the Doctor, the actor playing him has time on his side ( ha ha ha ) why rush things and blow a great deal for himself by walking away from what looks like a great partnership?

Now that takes us back to the Cliff and the question: as fans are we willing to forgive Davies and the publicity machine that dropped us off that cliff only to grab us back before we hit bottom?

Remember Nyssa and the Skirt?

In the last episode she was in Nyssa ( Sarah Sutton ) dropped her skirt as a sort of goodbye gesture to her fans.

From what I’ve just read, in what can only be seen as a kiss and makeup gesture, Tennant / Who fans were treated to a few seconds of a naked Doctor Who.

As far as apologies go it does beat flowers and a card.

So- okay sure, all is forgiven.

But come on now…a few seconds after all we’ve been through?

The She-Demon Yard Nazi

So I have this neighbor that my entire family has known for over 20 years.

When I told her my nephew died she didn’t call to pass her condolences on to the Family- who at times were the only people on the block who would speak to her.

Nope.

Instead she called the City to complain about the grass being to tall along my fence that does not line her property.

Anyone want to buy my house?

 It borders

 The Inner Circle of Hell

so you’ll save boodles on your heating bills during the winter

and right now

Hell is Freezing over so it’s pretty cool around here despite the warm weather….
